T.C. Scott joined UVA in the Fall of 1977 and is presently an Associate Professor on the general faculty and director of the department’s undergraduate laboratories. He earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan. He also holds a certificate in Automotive Engineering from the Chrysler Institute of Engineering. Prior to joining MAE, Dr. Scott was a draftperson, project engineer and engineering specialist for Chrysler Corporation (1962-1974) and senior research engineer for Sundstrand Corporation (1974-1977).
Dr. Scott’s interests include teaching, laboratory development, and student project supervision. He has guided the reorganization and improvement of the undergraduate laboratory courses, developed a course in automotive engineering, and is writing a text on heat transfer and working with Dr. Thacker on an experimental methods text. As laboratory director, he also coordinates the department’s educational laboratory facilities and technician support activities.
