Bob Lindberg joined the faculty in the Spring of 2003. He is the President and Executive Director of the National Institute of Aerospace (NIA) in Hampton, VA. NIA is a research and graduate education institute that functions as a partner with NASA Langley Research Center. NIA was formed by a consortium of universities that includes the University of Virginia. Prior to joining NIA, Dr. Lindberg held a variety of executive and management positions with Orbital Sciences Corporation in Dulles, VA. He began his career as a research physicist with the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC, working on projects in the Navy Space Program.



Dr. Lindberg received his BS in Physics from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, his MS in Engineering Physics from the University of Virginia, and his doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University. His current research interests are in dynamics, control, and mission design for space exploration missions.
