Roger A. Rydin has been an Associate Professor of Nuclear Engineering at the University of Virginia since 1970. He earned a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University, and SM and SCD degrees in Nuclear Engineering from MIT. Industrial experience includes two years at Westinghouse Commercial Atomic Power and four years at the Navy’s Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory. He has spent leaves of absence in Italy and Germany working at national laboratories.

Dr. Rydin’s research areas include methods development in reactor physics computations, reactor system dynamics, and radiation shielding computations. He is consultant to the Army on radiation dosimetry and radiation shielding. He regularly teaches a course in computer science and applied mathematics.
